Following a successful campaign for better wages and working conditions, a collective of outsourced Latin American workers is faced with a surprise immigration raid at their workplace: the School of Oriental and African Studies. The devastating reprisal, however, motivates these workers towards further organisation and mobilisation against SOAS’ outsourcing practices.

About The Filmmakers

Fernando González Mitjáns holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Brasilia – Brazil; a MA in Postcolonial Culture and Global Policy from Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, and recently completed his MA in Ethnographic and Documentary Film at University College London’s Anthropology Department. His background in Social Sciences and Cultural Studies informs a visual practice centered on the topics of culture, migration and identity. Originally from Cuba, he lived and studied in Brazil before relocating to London. ‘Limpiadores’ is Fernando’s first documentary; he was granted a production bursary from One World Media to complete the project.
